Rolling Saddle Massage Stool with Hydraulics by Sivan Health and Fitness

July 27, 2016Adrien

As a professional massage therapist the comfort and satisfaction of your clients is certainly paramount, but you can’t forget about your own comfort and that’s why you need to make sure you have the right equipment – so that you can be at your professional best. It would certainly be a little ironic if you as a massage therapist were to throw your back out due to poor posture while trying to work on your clients. Making sure you maintain good posture no matter whether you’re in a seated or standing position is essential for the massage therapist, and if you prefer to sit down while performing your work it’s a good idea to find a great massage stool.

One stool that has all the attributes to provide a comfortable and effective working environment for the massage therapist is the Sivan Health and Fitness Pneumatic Rolling Saddle Massage Stool. The stool is well-designed and comfortable. Best of all this stool is available for purchase at well under $100, making it affordable as well.

Pneumatic Practicality

If you’ve ever sat on a chair and found the experience enjoyable because it seemed like you were bouncing on air, that would be the pneumatic effect. A pneumatic chair is one that uses gas pressure to give your chair that little bit of bounce and give that adds to your overall comfort and satisfaction with the product. This massage stool uses pneumatic pressure to enhance the design and comfort of the chair and, by most accounts, the manufacturer has done a pretty good job of integrating the pneumatic design to ensure overall comfort.

Adjust with Hydraulics

Quite often what comes to mind when you hear the word hydraulic is a picture of a magnificent cataract such as Niagara Falls or some other great body of water, but when it comes to chair design that’s not really what we’re talking about here. When we talk about hydraulics in a chair design what we’re referring to is the use of a liquid to assist with chair adjustments and height. It’s a common design feature of chairs and stools and it is included with this massage stool as well, making it easy to adjust. After all, we aren’t all the same height, so for a chair to be comfortable we have to be able to adjust it to suit our own particular needs.

Proper Posture

As we’ve already briefly touched upon above, if you’re going to be an effective massage therapist you need to ensure your own comfort as well as that of your clients, and this requires that you maintain proper posture at all times. That’s one of the main reasons that the saddle style design of this stool is so effective – it encourages proper posture. The saddle style prevents you from leaning back too far, ensuring that your back is always in an upright position; that’s definitely one of the key positive features of the design of this stool.

Perfect Diameter

If you’re going to be spending a lot of time sitting on a massage stool it needs to be comfortable and for that reason you’ll want to make sure that it is not too wide. A chair that’s too wide is just as likely to encourage improper posture as a saddle that’s poorly designed. This chair is about 15 inches in diameter and, based on the numerous reviews of this product, it seems to be about the right width for most people. This will certainly depend upon the individual and if at all possible it would be best to try and find a similar stool that you can test drive first before purchasing this one.

Easy Roller

A massage therapist has to be able to move around their client, who’s normally lying on a massage table, with relative ease; this stool comes with easy rolling wheel casters to ensure ease of movement is not an issue. The wheels are designed to move in all directions so you can quickly move around your clients as needed, to find the perfect position to work on them.

Some Things to Keep in Mind

While this stool seems to be fairly popular there have been a few customers that complained that the design isn’t quite as comfortable as they’d hoped. Customers that have been dissatisfied with the stool’s design have suggested that it’s shaped more like a bicycle seat than a saddle and it’s not really appropriate for the purpose for which it was designed. Some also complain that the hydraulics in the seat wear out quickly, making the hydraulic adjustment feature useless after a very short period of time.

Another common complaint leveled against this stool is that the height simply can’t be adjusted enough for some people. It’s advertised to be adjustable up to 28 inches in height, but quite a few customers have complained that it isn’t even capable of that.

A Few Too Many Question Marks

There are always going to be some customers that don’t like a product, but there are just too many reoccurring complaints about this massage stool for me to be comfortable giving it a thumbs up. It’s certainly affordable and that may be enough to convince you to give it a try, but it might be wise to give this one a pass.
